Making a difference: Our Lady of Lujan Home

Our Lady of Lujan Home is located in the town of Guaraní, 9 km from Oberá. It opened in December 1999.
At present the home caters for 21 senior citizens in one building. A new extension, built with assistance from the Government of Ireland, will allow the home to care for up to 32 residents.

The youngest resident at present is Ramona Alvez (50) and the oldest is Concepción Viera (93). Almost all of the residents here have been abandoned by their families. Their main problem was poverty, but conditions such as depression or alcoholism have sometimes complicated matters further.

Our Lady of Lujan has two full-time staff, husband and wife team Fernando and Mabel Martinez. Fernando is a qualified nursing assistant.
