Oberá |
Our Lady of Lujan began its mission in December 1999. It is located in the town of Guaraní, 9 km from Oberá. At present it caters for eight senior citizens in one building. An extension is currently nearing completion, thanks to Irish Government aid. This will allow care for 32 residents in total. The youngest resident at present is Ramona (54) and the oldest is Concepcion (89). Almost all of the residents here were abandoned by their families. Poverty was a factor, but also other reasons like alcoholism or depression. Our Lady of Lujan has two assistants currently – Fernando and Mabel, a husband-and-wife team. Fernando is a qualified nursing assistant.
