Oberá |
St Teresa’s Home opened in May 1993. It cares for people (how many?) with physical and learning disabilities who were hidden away or abandoned on the roadside by families too poor to look after them. Many people are disabled through accident or disease and are totally helpless. Some suffer from multiple disabilities - blindness, deafness, psychiatric illness, cancer or paralysis. The age-range here is from 5 to 60. The youngest resident is Jonathan (brief description needed) and the oldest is José, who is hemiplegic (any more details?). St Teresa’s has 15 assistants, with varying levels of nursing experience, caring for the residents. One of the assistants, José Alberto, is a qualified nurse. Ernesto and Julio are qualified nursing assistants. Mariana is studying for a Nursing Degree at Posadas University. St Teresa’s Home is surrounded by tea plantations and is 6 km from the centre of Oberá.
